Help is finally here for those people with chronic halitosis, as well as those who just want to make sure that they never have to worry again about having bad breath. There are brand new products coming to market utilizing breakthrough technology that, when used regularly, can stop bad breath and keep it from ever coming back. Sound too good to be true? It's not! Read on and find out how it?s done.

Where Does the Smell Come From?

To understand why this new cure for bad breath works, you first have to know where breath odors come from. It has been shown that 90-95% of all bad breath is caused by bacteria (germs) that live in the mouth. These bacteria, which cause the foul odors as well as periodontal diseases, are called Gram-negative anaerobic bacteria. The bacilli are commonly found in mucous membranes throughout the body, and are often involved in infections. They are also normally antibiotic resistant. In the mouth, they reside all over, including on and between the teeth as well as on the tongue, especially in the back.

These bacteria attract amino acids, both those that exist in your saliva as well as those from the foods that we all eat. As a by-product, the amino acids emit sulfur gases such as dimethyl sulfide and hydrogen sulfide. Anyone who has smelled sulfur gases understand that they do not smell very pleasant. When the gases emitted by the amino acids are exhaled, we now have halitosis.

Better Understanding the Problem

We are talking about a problem that most people suffer from, if only just occasionally. It is known that having a dry mouth can actually worsen bad mouth odors since there is less to flush away the odor creating substances from the mouth. In a small percentage of cases (under 10%), mouth odor problems are due to various systemic diseases or infections. <

If you are wondering if you suffer from bad breath, be aware that it is almost impossible to smell your own breath. Also, most people are too embarrassed to tell you that you have a problem, unless you come right out and ask them.

Traditional Treatments

Traditional breath treatments have included covering up the odors by using mouthwash, chewing gum or lozenges; the use of oxidizing products that actually eliminate orders, but only for a short period of time after using them; brushing and flossing several times a day; and using antibacterial products that kill bacteria but do nothing to remove existing odors. All of these treatments may be effective in some people, but without eliminating both the odors and their root cause, these treatments are all very temporary, lasting from a few minutes to a couple of hours at best.

Finally, a Breakthrough CURE for Halitosis

Just recently at the State University of New York, Stonybrook, a leading dental university, doctors have perfected an amazing treatment process that, when followed, all but eliminates halitosis in nearly all people.

The doctors have discovered that the use of Zinc ion technology will prohibit amino acids from binding to the problem bacteria in your mouth. Without the protein to digest, the bacteria will stop producing the volatile sulfur gases, thus eliminating new odors from forming. The additional use of an oxidizing agent, typically sodium chlorite or stabilized chlorine dioxide, will eliminate all the existing offensive odors from the mouth. Through clinical studies it has been found that by using a combination of these two treatments just twice a day, halitosis can be eliminated for a full 24 hour period. It was also determined that as you continue the treatment, the oxidative state of your mouth will increase, and the possibility of future odor problems will lessen dramatically. Finally, a treatment that targets both the odors as well as their cause!

So How Do You Get This Treatment?

While I am sure that you will begin to see various companies releasing products into the marketplace, currently there is only one company manufacturing products using this new technology, Triumph Pharmaceuticals Inc., under the brand name SmartMouth?. The good news is that their products are currently available, without a prescription, at stores everywhere. If you are suffering from chronic bad breath, or know somebody that is, you owe it to yourself to check out this miracle breakthrough in halitosis treatment.

Bad Breath Remedies - Do You Get What You Pay For?

Everyone has bad breath occasionally. Depending on the where you look, you will find that at least 65% of us have bad breath occasionally. A smaller percentage have chronic bad breath. If you hang around garlic eaters or sleep with your mouth open and wake up with a coated tongue and morning mouth, you may believe that everyone has bad breath all of the time. So what's a person to do? Do you listen to the ads and spend a lot to get rid of your bad breath, or can you do something at home that costs nothing and is still an effective bad breath remedy.

What Causes Bad Breath 101

First off, if you really want to understand what will really get rid of bad breath, you should get clear on what causes bad breath. Without getting fancy, here are the basics. Bad breath is caused mostly by the rotten egg smelling sulfur compounds that are created by bacteria living in your mouth. Not to get too excited here. There are bunches of bacteria living in your mouth and everybody has them. It's normal and it's natural. The bits of food you have left in your mouth, along with things like sugars, post nasal drip mucus, and proteins are the food that these bacteria digest and turn into volatile sulfur compounds. The bacteria that we are concerned with here live in oxygen free places in your mouth like the plaque on your teeth and at the gum line and at the base of the papillae on your tongue. In order to keep bad breath under control, you need to remove as many of those sulfur compounds as possible and to keep the bacteria population low. So long as you keep eating and breathing, this will be an ongoing process.

Bad Breath Remedies 101

What are the real basics of taking care of bad breath? The number one method for keeping fresh breath is to have good daily oral hygiene habits. Brush your teeth at least twice a day for a couple of minute each time. Take time to floss carefully. Both of these habits will reduce the plaque on your teeth and at the gum line. Next is to clean your tongue. That white coating on your tongue is a biofilm made up of a lot of things, including those sulfur compounds. Remove it faithfully and you will get rid of a lot of bad breath problems. By cleaning your tongue, you will also make it easier for oxygen to reach the bacteria on your tongue. Remember that oxygen will reduce the numbers of bacteria that need an oxygen free environment. Fewer bacteria, less bad breath. You will never get rid of all of them, but you can keep their numbers down.

What Is the Best Bad Breath Remedy

This is one place where buying the right products can make a big difference in how well you get rid of bad breath. If you wash your dirty clothes just with water, you will get them pretty clean, but if you use laundry products, you will do a lot better job. It's the same with halitosis. It is important to get the newly formulated products that are out there and not the old standbys. Almost all of the standard commercial products use ingredients that are either not great for your mouth, like sodium lauryl sulfate, or that encourage the growth of bacteria, like alcohol and sugar. The new products that have come out contain chlorine dioxide and other ingredients that are helpful and promote oral health. They leave out the harmful ingredients. These new products create more oxygen in your mouth and will actually reduce the number of bacteria for up to 20 hours. Combine carefully selected oral hygiene products with a regular routine of brushing, flossing and tongue cleaning, and then you have a winning bad breath remedy that will keep your breath fresh all day.

Bad breath is a problem that many of us face. For most people it is because they ate something strong and the smell has lingered, but for others the problem becomes chronic. If you suffer from bad breath there are some things that you can do to try to get rid of it, but what you are usually doing is treating the symptom and not curing the disease. As soon as you stop the treatment the bad breath will return. So what is the bad breath cause and how can we cure it?

Bad breath, or halitosis, is caused by a number of different things. Generally it is caused by a buildup of bacteria in the mouth that emits an odor. This buildup can generally be found on the tongue. It could also be that we have a problem with out gums or teeth that is causing the problem. Bad breath may not be coming from our mouth, it could be coming from our nose if we have a sinus infection, and no mint will help with that. One other bad breath cause that is more serious but less likely is that it is being caused by a condition with the liver or other organ of the body.

Don't spend all your time sucking on a breath mint. Sure this will help to cover over the odor but the underlying cause will still be there. You should try a natural bad breath remedy that will not only mask the symptoms but will attack the cause. There are several natural bad breath remedies on the market that can help.

Has someone ever told you that you have bad breath? I don't know about you but I am pretty paranoid about the fact that I might be offending people when I speak. Sure you can use things such as chewing gum or mints to help to make your breath appear fresh, but these things are merely treating the symptom (bad breath) and not the cause. But what it is that causes bad breath, and what is the best bad breath remedy?

Bad breath is caused by a number of different things. The most common thing that could cause bad breath is bacteria in your mouth, most commonly on the tongue. The bacteria collects on the tongue (sometimes it is even shows signs of itself visibly) and emanates an odor. It could also be caused by gum disease or perhaps even could come from your nostrils. Things such as sinus infections could cause a foul odor to come out of your nostrils, and while this smells different than common bad breath they can be indistinguishable from one another, and no breath mint is going to help.

So what is the best bad breath remedy? Well, that depends on the condition that is causing your bad breath in the first place. There is almost an unlimited number of things that you can purchase at the store to try to cover over the problem, but you would be doing just that, covering over the problem and not curing it. The best bad breath remedy is one that will not only correct the odor but will heal the problem naturally, and there are some fantastic natural cures out there, just find the one that is right for you.

Top Bad Breath Remedies - Cure Halitosis at Home

I don't know about you but I hate it when I have bad breath. Sure it doesn't really matter when you are by yourself, but suddenly you find yourself face to face with someone and you are looking for ways not to speak directly to them so that they don't know you have the problem. There are a lot of different things that you can do to help with your bad breath but they tend to be things that merely treat the symptom without addressing the problem behind it. But in a pinch these things can help. Here are the top bad breath remedies.

Sometimes people only get the chance to brush their teeth in the mornings and at night because they are out of the house most of the day. That used to be a good excuse, but there are plenty of products on the market now that will allow you to freshen up your mouth on the go, try using one of these several times a day.

When the culprit is bacteria on the tongue you should try attacking that directly. Try brushing your tongue a couple of times a day, but do this last so you don't spread the bacteria to other areas of your mouth, and then rinse your toothbrush in hot water (or boil it) to help kill the bacteria. And don't forget to floss.

If it is an ongoing problem you can try staying away from strong foods and coffee for a while to see if that clears up the problem. Smoking also can cause bad breath, not only in the short term but in the long term as well.

If you have the problem then you should also try a natural bad breath remedy. There are several out there that really work, depending on what the problem is behind your bad breath.

Afraid to Kiss? You Can Cure Halitosis or Bad Breath Easily and Quickly

It must be pretty awful to be afraid to kiss, and it is needless since you can cure halitosis or bad breath easily and quickly if you know what to do.

The agony of a guy being afraid when a girl comes close must be terrible, and for a girl too since women also suffer from bad breath. Kissing is a normal thing for teenagers, and for anyone in fact. To be afraid of a kiss must be awful.

Although you cannot smell your own breath, you will know that yours smells bad when people step back from you when you talk, or someone of the opposite sex flinches and turns away when you get close. You have to do something about it other than just brushing your teeth, and do it quick.

What Causes Halitosis?

This article with give you information on how to cure that problem, but first let?s have a look at what causes halitosis and dispel some myths. Halitosis is caused by evil smelling sulfur compounds that are products of the break-down of proteins by bacteria that live in your mouth. Although poor dental care can contribute, it is not the main reason. These bacteria are natural, and are meant to be in your mouth, but in some cases they start to work overtime and break down some proteins too fast, so generating these nasty volatile compounds.

Bacteria Live Deep in you Tongue and Cheeks

The bacteria are anaerobic, which means that they work best in the absence of oxygen, so do not live on the surface, but deep within the tongue, between the papillae or rough bumps on your tongue, in your cheeks and in your throat. That?s why brushing does not help much. They thrive in dry mouths, where the lack of oxygen-containing saliva creates ideal conditions for them. Dry mouths can be caused by some medications such as antihistamines and high blood pressure treatments and also by alcohol. Hence the ?dog breath? the morning after a heavy night!

High protein foods also cause halitosis, and the acidity of coffee speeds up the activity of the bacteria. A cheeseburger and coffee is probably worse before a date than eating onions! Sinus problems also create bad breath and it is next to impossible to eradicate after sinus surgery. So what can you do to cure your problem? It is, after all, a serious problem since it can affect your success in romance and also your employment prospects. No employer wants somebody with stinking breath talking to customers, so you have to do something, and do it quick. Luckily there is a cure for bad breath.

How to Cure Bad Breath

The cure lies in the fact that the bacteria are known to be anaerobic. They don?t like oxygen. It figures, therefore, that if you apply a substance that is rich in oxygen it will stop the little guys doing all that damage in your mouth. The compounds that you can smell are called Volatile Sulfur Compounds, or VSCs. If you can stop the bacteria from creating them then you have found the solution.

There are oxygen-rich compounds that can be used for this. If they are applied as a paste to the tongue and cheeks, and removed with a tongue scraper, they are very effective. The treatment can then be backed up by oxygenated mouthwashes and toothpastes to get down into the body of your tongue and cheeks. Brushing your tongue and cheeks with a soft toothbrush is also effective. These compounds can also break down the VSCs into odourless substances.

Once you have your bad breath under control, you can keep it controlled by keeping an eye on the proteins you eat. You don?t have to stop eating high protein foods such as cheese and fish, just be aware that you are eating them and then clean your tongue and cheeks afterwards. This stops any debris accumulating and being decomposed by the bacteria.

Ordinary Toothpaste is not Effective

An ordinary toothpaste in not good enough for this, but pastes are available containing high-oxygen materials. More details are available on my website of you want them, or you could try asking your pharmacist. You must be prepared, however, for an old-fashioned view of halitosis as being due to poor oral hygiene, which it definitely is not. It is a condition that some people have, that is caused by natural friendly bacteria, and certain medical or dietary conditions. In some cases it can be genetic.

Improved oral hygiene might help slightly by masking the problem, but will not cure it. A reduced alcohol intake is only a temporary cure if the condition is caused by excessive alcohol, but not if there is another cause. In that case, alcohol is simply making it worse rather than being the prime cause.

Do Not be Afraid to Kiss

Do not be afraid to kiss. You can cure bad breath or halitosis fairly easily if you go the right way about it. Don?t try to cure it in any other way other than attacking the bacteria with oxygen. You will not kill them since they are there all the time and will easily be regenerated after an antibacterial treatment such as a mouthwash. The only real cure is to use a highly oxygenated compound.

I suffer myself, but have never had a problem with my breath for the past two years.

Dental Health: Causes And Treatment For Bad Breath

The medical name for bad breath is halitosis. Causes can range from poor oral hygiene habits and foods you eat to various other health problems and unhealthy lifestyles.

If you eat foods with strong odors like garlic or onions you basically have to wait until the foods have passed through your body before the odor is completely gone. You can mask it with brushing and mouthwash to cover up the odor temporarily. All food you eat begins the breaking down process in your mouth. As food digests and is absorbed into the bloodstream, it is eventually carried to the lungs and given off in your breath.

Poor dental hygiene habits promote bacteria growth between teeth, around the gums and on the tongue, which causes bad breath. If you don?t brush and floss your teeth daily, the food particles that remain in your mouth begins to promote bacteria growth on teeth, gums and the tongue. If dentures are not properly cleaned, bacteria and food particles can cause bad breath.
Other unhealthy lifestyles that include smoking or chewing tobacco-based products can cause bad breath, stain the teeth and irritate gum tissues.

Health problems associated with bad breath include:

?Gum or periodontal disease
?Poorly fitting dental appliances
?Yeast infections of the mouth
?Dental cavities
?Dry mouth (dry mouth may be caused by side effects of medications, salivary gland problems or continuous breathing through the mouth)
?Respiratory tract infections like pneumonia or bronchitis
?Chronic sinus infections
?Postnasal drip
?Diabetes
?Chronic acid reflux
?Liver or kidney problems

Tips on how to prevent or reduce bad breath include:

?Brush twice a day with fluoride toothpaste and brush after you eat
?Always brush your tongue
?Replace toothbrush every 2 to 3 months
?Use floss or interdental cleaner to remove food particles and plaque between your teeth once a day
?Remove dentures at night and clean thoroughly before placing in your mouth the next morning
?See your dentist at least twice a year.
?Stop smoking/chewing tobacco-based products
?Drink lots of water to keep your mouth moist
?Chew cinnamon flavored, sugar free gum (read the food label for the ingredient Xylitol. Studies show Xylitol in sugar free gum can help to destroy the bacteria in your mouth and give you that just brushed clean feeling as well. The flavor ?cinnamon? has also been shown in some studies to be the best flavor to combat against bad breath.
?Mouthwashes you buy over-the-counter generally provide a temporary way to mask unpleasant mouth odor. There are some antiseptic brands of mouth-rinse products that do help kill the germs that cause bad breath. Ask your dentist which product is best for you.

In most cases your dentist can find and treat the cause of bad breath. If your dentist determines the odor is due to gum disease you may be referred to a periodontist. A periodontist specializes in treating gum conditions. If the dentist finds your mouth to be healthy you may be referred to a family physician, internist or some other specialist to determine the odor source and an appropriate treatment plan.

Turning Bad Breath Into Fresh Breath

Cure Your Bad Breath In 3 Days, Click Here To Know More

>>  Click Here To Know The Symptoms, Causes & Effective Cures For Bad Breath <<

In the past, bad breath or halitosis is a condition that brought shame and embarrassment to those afflicted with it. Bad breath used to be difficult to cure. However, thanks to research and development, bad breath can now be effectively cured. Today, various products for treating bad breath are available in the market. These products are available for purchasing online and over the counter. Your doctor can also recommend specific medications for treating bad breath.

Ordinary mouthwashes and breath mints are not that effective at treating bad breath. They only temporarily solve the problem. In fact, mouthwashes and breath mints lose their effectiveness after 15 to 20 minutes. So if you have a bad breath problem, forget about using mouthwashes and breath mints as they will only mask the problem, not cure it.

Notice what's on the shelves of your local pharmacy. One of the most glaring things you will see are the different products all claiming to control and cure bad breath. It is very easy to fall for the outrageous claims and promises of fresher breath made by the manufacturers of these bad breath products. However, you should keep in mind that bad breath products only work temporarily.

Many bad breath products are indeed effective at controlling bad breath problems, but they are only able to control the problem for a short while. Most of these bad breath products are as effective as simply brushing and flossing your teeth regularly and then rinsing your mouth with plain water.

Studies have shown that people without bad breath have high levels of the good bacteria called Streptococcus Salivarius in the mouth and tongue. When you are choosing a bad breath product, it is a good idea to choose one whose claims can be backed up by scientific evidence.

There is one such bad breath product, the Blis Streptococcus Salivarius K12 Fresh Breath Kit. This particular bad breath product offers a revolutionary way of treating bad breath. Chronic bad breath sufferers who tried this product reported that their condition improved significantly. What the fresh breath kit does is help in restore the good bacteria and bring their number back up so that they will have healthy, fresh breath.

There are many other products similar to the Blis Streptococcus Salivarius K12 Fresh Breath Kit. However, before using them, make sure you fully research these products and ensure that they are backed by scientific evidence.

How To Cure Bad Breath From Your Cat

Cure Your Bad Breath In 3 Days, Click Here To Know More

>>  Click Here To Know The Symptoms, Causes & Effective Cures For Bad Breath <<

Cat owners know for a fact that bad cat breath can be downright awful. It isn?t that much different from bad human breath, as both are caused by bacteria found in the mouth that breaks protein down and releases the sulfur compounds out into the air. Sulfur smells really bad on its own, which is why breath containing it smells bad as well.

The bacterium that causes bad breath with cats is normally associated with a buildup of tartar around the teeth. Tartar is yellow in color, known as a coating of bacteria, food, and minerals.

To cure your cat from bad breath, you?ll need to remove the buildup of tartar. There are several cat foods out there that are designed to reduce the buildup of tartar, many containing enzymes that will literally dissolve it.

You can also give your cat treats as well, as many of them will help eliminate and prevent tartar. If the buildup of tartar is bad, you may need to have your cat?s teeth professionally cleaned.

Once the tartar has been removed, the bad breath will go away.

You may be able to clean the tartar off your cat?s teeth at home. There are several toothpastes available for pets, available in several different flavors.

You?ll need to get a mechanical toothbrush, as the motion is very important for removing tartar buildup. Toothpastes that contain enzymes will dissolve tartar, helping to cure bad breath.

If you start early with brushing your cat?s teeth, you can virtually eliminate any type of tartar buildup that will ultimately lead to bad breath.

Some bacteria that lead to tartar can be found in your cat?s diet. When you feed him, you should always make sure that the food he consumes doesn?t contain a lot of bacteria.

If you shop healthy and feed him only healthy foods, it can help his bad breath a great deal. When you give your pet a treat, make sure that the treat is designed to help with tartar.

After your cat has finished eating, you can brush his teeth or rinse his mouth out. This way, you?ll get the bacteria out of his mouth before it has time to build up on his teeth.

Sometimes, cats may have a bad odor in their mouth that doesn?t come from tartar or bad breath in general. In these rare cases, it can be either liver or kidney disease. If you notice bad breath and it isn?t tartar, you should take your cat to the vet.

Don't Kiss me, Your Breath Stinks! Take the Bad Breath Test.

Ever woken up gagging from a solid blast of noxious fumes capable of clearing a beanie baby convention? When you stop hacking and your eyes clear you discover with horror that it's not the catbox or the dog's butt, it's emanating from the mouth of your significant other. Dammit, Janet, don't you ever brush your teeth? Ack! And you kiss that mouth!

This is halitosis, baby, and your breath might smell the same way to others.

After you've ruled out death, dismemberment and divorce, you're probably fighting the urge to drag 'em into the bathroom and pour a gallon of paint stripper, bleach or mouthwash into that odiferous cavern. Don't waste your time, there's only one way to really get rid of smelly breath and standard commercial mouthwash isn't it. Run, Forrest, RUN!

No, actually almost all bad breath is caused by a byproduct of the friendly anaerobic bacteria that live in your tongue. Yes, that's IN your tongue, not ON your tongue. These little boogers get by just fine in an oxygen free environment (which is why they're called anaerobic) and the cozy spaces inbetween the papillae on the surface of your tongue create a cool crib for them to hang out.

Before you start thinking antibiotics, bear in mind that we NEED these bacteria to help with digestion, if you kill them all you'll probably shrivel like a prune, so that's out. What happens is the bacteria break down certain proteins in things like mucous and phlegm in your mouth and throat and certain foodstuffs. When the bacteria come into contact with some of the byproducts of this breakdown, the result is a cloud of fumes known as volatile sulfur compounds that waft to the front of your mouth...and voila, you have bad breath.

Lots of things contribute to the health and welfare of these pong producing tongue dwellers, like dairy products, a post nasal drip (lots of yummy mucuous strings to much on), thick saliva, a dry mouth, hormonal changes even diabetes. Some people even rush to a doctor to treat this problem, but many physicians don't know the real causes of bad breath and you can end up financing their vacation home in Malibu before you can say dang, dawg, pop a breath mint. Forewarned is forearmed!

That's all well and good, but how do you put a stop to this bog of eternal stench? According to one of the foremost authorities on halitosis there is only one really effective way to get rid of bad breath forever...and that is to change the sulphurous compounds that cause it into inoffensive compounds that don't stink.

There's a simple way to deal with this, and it isn't what you'd think! Before contemplating murder or suicide, get the scoop on treating bad breath, and forever leave the ranks of the socially unacceptable.

Infant Bad Breath

Usually, when we think about bad breath, we are not thinking of infant bad breath. The breath of infants and small children is generally quite pleasant: halitosis in this age group is relatively rare. It does occur from time to time, however, and dealing with it requires some special considerations.

In a young child bad breath can be a sign of some other illness, so before taking any specific measures to treat the breath odor, ask yourself if your child appears healthy. Is he or she eating a healthy balanced diet? Are there any signs of illness such as digestive upsets, respiratory problems, allergies? Has your child had a checkup with the doctor and dentist recently? Particularly in the case of infant bad breath, some signs of underlying illness can be very subtle, so if you have any doubts, make the appropriate appointments.

Identifying the source of uncomplicated child bad breath can be a process of elimination. If the problem is chronic, it is probably not being caused by occasional ingestion of problem foods like garlic, spices, or strong cheese. In many cases, increased attention to oral hygiene will solve the problem. Because most breath odors originate in the mouth, it's important for children to brush well and often. Avoiding sweet foods can also help as sugar promotes both bacterial growth and tooth decay. These possibilities, however, are seldom applicable to infants and infant bad breath.

In an infant bad breath is not usually due to poor oral hygiene, but may occur if there are sores in the mouth. Many infants suck pacifiers or other objects which become coated with saliva and oral bacteria and may be the source of an unpleasant odor. Wash pacifiers often and replace them as soon as they begin to look worn. If your baby sucks on a blanket or stuffed toy, wash it frequently. Also, check for nasal blockage: foreign objects obstructing the nostrils will soon cause problems of various types. Even sinus congestion due to a cold or allergy will cause a child to breathe through the mouth, which dries out the oral tissues and results in child bad breath.

When attempting to treat infant bad breath, remember that children should not be given antiseptic mouthwash or many of the other things that adults commonly use. Babies can?t be trusted not to swallow mouthwash or choke on breath mints. Before using any product to treat child bad breath, read the label carefully and/or consult your doctor.

Remedies to Cure Bad Breath

Having bad breath can be a very embarrassing situation. However, this is a condition practically everyone goes through in their lives. Most of the causes of bad breath are smoking, dieting, having some illnesses like cold, and/or some drinks you drink. However, having bad breath is not the end of the world. There are things that can be done to get rid of it.

The first thing to do is to ensure that you brush, floss and rinse properly everyday as it removes leftover food particles in teeth and makes your breath fresh. Of course, brushing is only helpful in the beginning of the day; after that the food and drinks you consume will affect your breath.

This is where gum proves to be a wise choice for you. Make it a habit to chew on chewing gum if you intend to meet someone after eating or smoking. However, sometimes gum may not be the right alternative, and it tends to lose its flavor rather quickly. When going to dinner with an accomplice, you wouldn?t know what to do with the gum. Moreover, it is not professional to chew when talking to someone and it also makes you bloated as you tend to swallow air when chewing.

Breath sprays or mints are great for eliminating bad breath. Though they make your breath fresh, using breath sprays may not be easy in public. You never know when you may miss your mouth and spray someone else! And with mints, they take a long time to dissolve and have extra calories which you may not need. Considering all these points, breath strips seem to be the best alternative.

Breath strips are little enough to be carried everywhere but can kill your bad breath. They can be easily popped in your mouth in public and dissolve quickly to give you great smelling breath. Breath strips are usually found in different flavors which you can choose from.

Atkins Diet Bad Breath

People following the famous Atkins diet often encounter an unexpected and unpleasant side effect - Atkins diet bad breath. It's not their imagination that the diet causes an unpleasant odor on the breath, and it's very difficult to get rid of the problem while remaining on the diet. That's because this particular type of bad breath is not caused by the usual things.

Most cases of bad breath are caused by the production of volatile sulfur compounds (VSC) in the mouth. Anaerobic oral bacteria live in our mouths by the billions. They derive nutrition from food particles, sloughed off skin cells and other body proteins. When certain species predominate - species that produce VSC as a byproduct of metabolism - an unpleasant odor on the breath results. In the case of Atkins diet bad breath, the odor is not coming from the mouth and it isn't produced by the metabolism of bacteria. It's produced by the person's own metabolism.

The Atkins diet is based on severely restricting carbohydrates in the diet - especially in the early stages, dieters are allowed virtually no carbohydrates at all. Since carbohydrates are the usual source of energy in the body, their restriction forces the body to look for other sources of energy. It turns to stored fat - fat cells that most dieters have in plenty. When the human metabolism starts to break down fat cells for energy, a process called ketosis, ketones are produced as a byproduct and this is the agent of Atkins diet bad breath. Ketones are expelled in the urine and in the breath. In the breath, they are detected as a distinctly unpleasant odor - bad breath.

It's difficult to resolve the problem of Atkins diet bad breath as long as you stay on the diet: as long as your metabolism has no carbohydrates to break down, ketones will be produced by the breakdown of fat. Indeed, ketosis is the aim of the Atkins diet in the first place. In later stages of the diet, enough carbohydrates may be added to alleviate the problem; however, some dieters will have to settle for more carbohydrates and slower weight loss if they cannot tolerate the halitosis.

Breath freshening products may provide some relief and won't compromise the diet as long as they do not contain carbohydrates. For this particular problem, the products such as lozenges and breath strips that have a strong odor, usually mint, to mask bad breath are the best choices. Many people, however, will find it difficult to continue their use over the long term. For persistent Atkins diet bad breath, the best solution may be to find a different diet.

Bad breath would have to be the most common personal hygiene condition that all of us fail at one time or another. Let's face it if a friend or someone in our family, or even a work colleague has it, we certainly take a step back out of their personal space quick smart....don't we?

Of course it isn't news that a daily routine of brushing and flossing our teeth after we eat is an effective treatment against this type of offence. However for some people like me who are constantly on the go, carrying out this simple mouth cleaning treatment throughout the day isn't always possible. Personally I carry a little box of breath mints everywhere I go because in my role as a career coach I work up pretty darn close and personal with the public.

Having a breath problem is not something I can afford to have when, as part of my job, I am leaning over people critiquing their resumes and covering letters.

Maintaining a high standard of personal hygiene and grooming is of utmost importance if I am to set a positive example for the job seekers to follow as an effective means of increasing their chances of landing employment. Like clean underwear a fresh breath is something we should never leave home without.

Some years back I went to visit a new dental clinic to have a tooth filled. On the day I remember being horrified when the dentist accused me of being a smoker because the brown stains on my teeth were so bad. Needless to say the poor fellow copped a mouthful as I told him in no uncertain terms that as the daughter of one of the original founders of the national anti-smoking campaign, I had never dared to take up smoking.

Once he realised he had made a mistake in diagnosing what was causing my bad mouth he then went on to ask about my diet. At the time I didn't understand why he seemed so interested in knowing what foods went into my mouth as I had already told him I didn't eat anything with sugar in it and that I used mouthwash twice a day to kill any bacteria.

When he didn't get anywhere with picking on my dietary habits he went on to quiz me about how many cups of coffee I was drinking a day. Shamefully I confessed to indulging in six or more a day of my favorite brew. 'Your breath must be really bad in the morning.' he exclaimed. Coffee he insisted was up there with garlic and onions as one of the major causes of halitosis which, just in case you didn't know, is the technical term for bad breath.

So, if your coffee drinking habits are at the higher end of the scale like mine, then be mindful that it may be causing you to have bad breath.

Do You Have Bad Breath

Do you often cover your mouth when you speak or often look away while talking with somebody? Do you spend a lot of money buying every brand of breath freshener you see on ads everyday? Are you worried about your breath?

With the many ads bombarding us everyday implying that people somehow are secretly repulsed by our breath, many of us probably will wonder, "Do I have bad breath or am I offending other people with my breath?" This is usually a pointless concern. Only very few people have halitosis or true bad breath, fewer than the common ads usually imply. Chronic halitosis is usually caused by some underlying medical or dental problems.

We all have natural breath odors. There are common breath odors and most often, these are mild and temporary. Your breath may sometimes smell a little sour and you are not alone. Everyone's breath grows increasingly pungent from adolescence on.

Food can spoil your breath. The most common food offenders are garlic and onion. These can stay in your breath up to 24 hours even after you brush your teeth. More often food particles can be the cause of bad breath. Food particles left in between the teeth usually rot and produce the smell. Flossing will usually remove these food particles when brushing alone fails to dislodge them. Smoking and drinking too can leave their trace in your breath.

While eating too much and leaving behind food particles in your mouth can cause bad breath, not eating at all can still produce bad breath. Dieters often develop mildly unpleasant "hunger breath". Taking in some food can easily cure this problem. Have you noticed your breath every time you wake up in the morning? This is what we call "morning breath". This is due to less movement of the tongue while we sleep and the slow secretion of saliva. Because of this lesser activity in our oral cavity, the dead cells that line our mouth are no longer rubbed off, swallowed or washed away. Those dead cells are then broken down by bacteria producing bad odor. This however usually disappears as soon as we brush our teeth or take in some food.

True halitosis or bad breath is commonly caused by dental problems. Poor dental hygiene can lead to gum disease. Gum disease is a common cause of bad breath. If you fail to clean your mouth regularly, you allow the dental plaque to accumulate along the gum lines and dental surfaces causing gum disease. Dental plaque is a white sticky film that contains bacteria, saliva and food debris. The accumulation of dental plaque along the dental surfaces and gum lines eventually create dental pockets in between gums and teeth. The bacteria found inside the dental pockets break down proteins and dead cells producing offensive odors. The odor may be intensified by the decaying blood from the bleeding gums. If the halitosis is not dental in nature, it may be caused by an underlying medical problem. The problem can usually be traced to a local infection in the respiratory tract like the nose, throat, windpipe and lungs. The respiratory infection can be a chronic sinusitis with postnasal drip or it can also be bronchitis. There are also cases when the causative factors are gastrointestinal problems like hiatal hernia or diverticulum of the esophagus.

Dry mouth can also cause halitosis. Any conditions causing dry mouth can lead to bad breath. These include dehydration, salivary gland disorders, fever and some medications. Breathing through the mouth can also cause halitosis.

If the cause of halitosis is a dental illness like gum disease, proper oral hygiene can usually curb the problem. Visit your dentist regularly and have your teeth cleaned professionally twice a year. Proper tooth brushing techniques and flossing can usually remove the plaque and food debris in between the teeth and gum lines. Brush your teeth after every meal including in between snacks. It will also be helpful to gently brush your tongue especially if it is coated. The bacteria on your tongue can also cause bad breath.

Bad Breath Tonsils

Many people don't realize that when you have bad breath tonsils may have something to do with it. Your tonsils, located in the back of the mouth at the top of the throat, are not only a frequent site of infection, they can also accumulate debris and harbor bacteria. Tonsils and tonsillar crypts provide a moist sheltered airless environment where many species of bacteria do well. Although most of the bacteria that live in the mouth and throat are harmless, and many are even beneficial, invasion by the wrong kind of bacteria can cause problems.

A first step in bad breath prevention is to keep the tissues in your mouth and throat healthy, including your tonsils. Seek medical attention immediately if you suspect you have tonsillitis and have sinus problems assessed as well. See your dentist at least once a year and practice good dental hygiene between dental cleanings. Regular medical checkups are a good way to keep a close eye on your general health and avoid bad breath tonsils and other health problems as you get older.

To deal with bad breath tonsils, first rule out bacterial infection. The organism to worry about is streptococcus, the cause of strept throat. This is an acute infection that usually clears up fairly quickly and is routinely treated with antibiotics. Because there is destruction of healthy tissue in the throat, strept throat often results in a foul odor on the breath. The odor problem resolves with the infection, fortunately, so if this is what's causing your halitosis, treatment for the strept will also be effective bad breath prevention.

If the breath problem is more of a chronic issue, bad breath prevention may be more difficult. The odor may be coming from tonsiloliths, small accumulations of dead cells and other debris that lodge and grow around the tonsils. Tonsiloliths are often associated with sinusitis or post nasal drip, where there is a constant flow of sinus drainage down the back of the throat. Dead cells and other tiny particles get caught up in the tonsil area forming tiny aggregates like stones - the aggregates grow larger as they catch more and more debris. Your tonsils become bad breath tonsils when oral bacteria start proliferating in and on the tonsiloliths, deriving nutrients from the proteins and other molecules there.

When it comes to bad breath prevention, tonsiloliths can be difficult to get rid of. Each individual tonsilolith is eventually dislodged and swallowed, carrying away its load of odor producing bacteria

- but another tonsilolith soon takes its place. The best approach to bad breath tonsils caused by tonsiloliths is to gargle regularly with a good breath freshening product designed to reduce bacterial growth in the mouth.

Stop Bad Breath

>>  Click Here To Know The Symptoms, Causes & Effective Cures For Bad Breath <<

Most bad breath problems begin in the mouth, and are a result of poor dental hygiene. Persistent bad odor from the mouth is indicative of the presence of bacteria that coat the teeth and gums. Food particles lodged in the cavities and back of the tongue decay and release sulfur compounds, which cause of bad breath. In order to stop bad breath, one must follow a proper cleaning regimen that includes brushing regularly, flossing, and rinsing with mouthwash.

Brushing the teeth, gums, and tongue is recommended after every meal, to prevent the buildup of bacteria which feed on decaying food particles. Several types of toothpaste are available in the market today, ranging from regular toothpaste to brands that provide extra care for sensitive gums and teeth. Many dentists suggest the use of fluoride-based toothpaste, as fluoride is a poison that kills bacteria.

Brushing dentures with ordinary toothpaste can result in discoloration and scratches on the surface. It is therefore essential to clean them with either soap or lukewarm water, or specially manufactured denture creams and brushes. It is also advisable to thoroughly clean the area that fits against the gums and teeth. This will prevent plaque buildup on the dentures and keep them fresh and clean.

Mouthwashes tend to disguise bad breath instead of curing or preventing it. In fact, some conventional mouthwashes leave our mouth dry and thereby make it more hospitable to bacteria. Chlorine-dioxide-based mouthwashes are the latest in bad breath prevention. These mouthwashes attack the sulfur compounds responsible for bad odor. The simplest way to rinse the mouth, dislodge food particles, and stimulate saliva flow is by drinking water.

For those who cannot brush after meals or snacks, chewing sugarless gum is advised. The chewing action prevents the mouth from becoming dry by stimulating saliva flow, which in turn cleans the mouth and dissolves sulfur compounds.
